The association is developing a publishing programme devoted to contemporary artists from Switzerland and China. Each publication is conceived as a lasting artistic document.

Our approach

Showcase, document, share

Each publication showcases the works, presents the artist’s approach and helps new audiences discover it.

Publishing projects are selected for their artistic and cultural interest, their contribution to the dialogue between the two countries and their potential reach among the public and institutions.

Some publications may be offered to galleries, museums, libraries, art schools, cultural institutions, collectors and art professionals in Switzerland and China.

Second Matter — Wang Yanling

Second Matter brings together the works Wang Yanling has created since 2010 around the translation between image, painting and matter.

It all begins with family archives: thin sections of rock and microscope photographs taken between 1983 and 1985 by her father, a geologist. Rediscovered in 2010, they became the starting point of a practice in which stone, minerals and concrete are cut, painted and recomposed.

Born in 1981, Wang Yanling graduated from the Chinese painting department of the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. She lives and works in Shanghai.

Routine — Gu Zeng

Routine

Gu Zeng

Every day, Gu Zeng follows the same ritual: she sits in silence, lights incense and lets forms come to her, without trying to control them. Once the incense has burned down, she creates the work of the day: a drawing, a colour piece or a print.

Routine gathers the works born of this practice and offers a simple, peaceful way of creating, in which regularity replaces the wait for inspiration.

A book for artists, writers and anyone whose work relies on creativity.
